About ten years ago I watched Konrad Schuman of Chinook Enterprises install the garage doors to the maintenance shop at Bellarmine Preparatory School in Tacoma, Washington. I was very impressed with his workmanship, speed and knowledge regarding the installation of the doors. He made the installation look effortless, so I asked him for his business card.
Two years ago I called Konrad and asked him to give me a bid for replacing the old 1936 wood sliding garage doors in our home in the north end of Tacoma. The bid was very reasonable so we had Konrad replace our old doors with one double car garage door and one single car garage door. The installation took two days; one day to remove the old doors and hardware and reframe the door area to make the new doors fit, and a second day to install the doors and the electric door openers.
Prior to the doors being installed I used to spend very little time in the garage. I would have to go into the alley and undo a padlock then undo a bolt in order to be able to open the doors. Now all it takes is the push of a button on the automatic garage door opener.
Konrad also recommended Mark Bombardier to install a regular house door from the garage to the basement near my work area. Mark recommended Evergreen Concrete Cutting Inc. to cut the access hole through the 12-inch thick concrete foundation wall of the house to install the door from the garage to the basement. Both Evergreen Concrete Cutting Inc. and Mark Bombardier did an extremely professional job with the cutting and the installation of the inside door and they did so at a very affordable price.
Now that I have direct access to the garage from inside the house without going out in the weather through the alley, I go into the garage at least twice daily and it has became a part of my work space in the basement.
